Nearly a decade had passed since our then infantile MUN Club first entered the MUN circuit in the year 2000, and after establishing an extremely firm foothold in the MUNing sphere over the past few years, the luminaries that played a pivotal role in supporting the club – Ma’am Principal and the managing committee, decided that it was time to unleash a breeze of fiery renewal and to resuscitate the somewhat repetitive MUN world through a conference of our own. Thus, giving life to DAVMUN, which with its inaugural edition in 2009, justified its disposition and cemented DAV Public School’s image as one of the top MUN entities in the contemporary circuit.

With 5 specifically chosen committees keeping in mind the geopolitical scenario of the time, the conference simulated the General Assembly, the Security Council , the Economic and Social Council, the Human Rights Council and for the first time in a school level conference, the International Court of Justice.

Even though a positive response was foreseen, the remarkable number of schools from contrasting parts of the country that applied for participation was truly an overwhelming feeling for the organizing committee.

What we had promised as an experience in the form of a competitive journey through the travails of international diplomacy and politics transformed into a phenomenon, way beyond what any of us could ever have imagined.

After three amazingly eventful days and equally sleepless nights, the conference was declared closed by the Secretary General in his official capacity, amid the bittersweet expressions of the delegates- filled with glee on doing well in the conference yet plaintive at its end.
Yet there was reason to cheer; as has now become customary after every DAVMUN Conference, the delegates were in for a pleasant surprise- the DJ Night.
Letting their hair down and enjoying themselves in revelry was only one of the innumerable cherished memories that the delegates took home with them, and with a resounding promise to be back bigger and better next year, DAVMUN 2009 drew to a triumphant conclusion.
